Case Study: Empowering Ranjita Through IGA Support
Ranjita is a young girl with multiple disabilities, including low vision, severe hearing loss, and cerebral palsy. She comes from an extremely poor family in a rural area. Both her parents work as daily wage labourers, struggling to meet the basic needs of the household. She has one sibling and, as the elder daughter, carries a strong sense of responsibility toward her family.
Despite her challenges, Ranjita is independent in managing her daily living activities. She has always been determined to support her family financially and improve their living conditions. With a strong aspiration to become self-reliant, she expressed her interest in starting a small business a “Ladies Corner” to provide essential items for women in her village.
With the support received under the IGA initiative, Ranjita was able to set up her shop. The shop offers basic items required by women in the community, making it both a convenient and valuable resource for the village. This initiative not only created a source of income for Ranjita but also enhanced her confidence and social inclusion.
Today, Ranjita is earning and contributing to her family’s daily expenses as well as her personal needs. She is managing her business independently and has begun to see positive changes in her financial stability. Encouraged by her progress, she plans to expand her shop by adding more products in the future, aiming to establish a stable and sustainable livelihood. Ranjita’s journey reflects resilience, determination, and the impact of timely support. With continued encouragement, she has the potential to further strengthen her business and improve her family’s quality of life.
