CBID Khordha & Begunia Project Update | April – June 2026
This quarter, AAINA's Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Project, supported by PHF, continued to create meaningful opportunities for persons with disabilities across Khordha and Begunia Blocks by strengthening access to education, rehabilitation, government entitlements, and community participation.
Significant progress was made in connecting persons with disabilities to essential services. The project facilitated 62 UDID Cards, 24 Disability Pensions, 141 scholarships, and access to 15 assistive devices, including hearing aids, wheelchairs, tricycles, and artificial limbs. The team also identified 15 new persons with disabilities, enrolled 4 children in schools, and linked 3 persons with disabilities to Self-Help Groups, promoting greater inclusion and economic participation.
A key milestone was the strengthening of inclusive Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) in 10 Anganwadi Centres. By deploying 10 Anganwadi Supporting Staff, AAINA enabled children with special needs to participate more actively in early learning while building the capacity of frontline workers to deliver inclusive services.
The project also continued to empower persons with disabilities through skills and digital literacy training, helping improve confidence, independence, and livelihood opportunities. Community inclusion was celebrated through Raja Festival events, where children with disabilities, families, community members, and local stakeholders came together to promote dignity, belonging, and equal participation.
Recognizing that stronger teams build stronger communities, project staff also participated in a Mental Health Capacity Building Training, equipping them with practical skills in self-care, emotional resilience, and psychosocial support.
As the project moves forward, it remains committed to building inclusive communities where every person with a disability has the opportunity to learn, participate, and thrive.
