Aaina celebrated Helen Keller's Day(observed on June 27) by organizing a bicycle rally and Public Meet at Raahgiri Platform, memorizing the contribution of the famous personality towards the deaf blind communities.
A rally of 70 people rode on bicycles creating awareness on ability in disability through inspirational messages on placards stuck to the bicycles. NGO staff, staff from TCS and Bharti Infratel (Corporate partners of Aaina) enthusiastically came forward to take part in the rally upon invitation. A flock of people gliding in the crowd with inspirational messages was able to capture attention of public at Raahgiri.
A Public Meet followed the rally where information on the significance of the day and inspirational life of Helen Keller was shared briefly. Children with Disability were the special guests of the public meet and they were engaged with small games and other activities. The participants were also taught A to Z in sign language by a special educator. Ms. Amrapali Pattnaik from TCS and Ms. Asha Upadhaya from Bharti Infratel exhibited their joy in getting involved in the event and pledged on behalf of their Corporate to continue support for people with disability. Mr. Sudhanshu Mishra (Deputy Commissioner, BMC) and Mr. R.K. Sharma (Asst Director VRC) were special guests for the rally and at Public Meeting.
